Kilimanjaro National Park:
Marangu Route:
Day 1 Drive from Arusha to a hotel in Moshi for overnight H/B.
Day 2 Morning walk through the Kilimanjaro forest and spend thenight at Mandara Hut (2700 meters)
Day 3 Climb to Horombo Hut (3720 meters).
Day 4 Ascend to Kibo Hut (5680 meters).
Day 5 Final ascent to the summit “ The UHURU PEAK “ (5895 meters)Overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 6 Morning descend to Marangu gate where will be met and transferred to Hotel overnight - H/B
Day 7 After breakfast, drive back to Arusha.

 

 

Machame Route:

Day 1 Drive from Arusha to a hotel in Moshi for overnight H/B.
Day 2 Morning transfer to Machame Gate and start the climb through the Shambas and passing the forest guard up to the first uniport hut. Dinner and overnight at Machame Hut – Camping (3100hrs). (About 5 hours walking).
Day 3 After breakfast, we leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing the little valley walking along steep rock ridge (3658m). Overnight at Shira Hut Campsite. (About 4hours walking).
Day 4 Continue to the East passing Junction, towards the peak of Kibo and Lava Tower. (4876m). Continue down to  Barranco Hut (3860m) for overnight (About 6hours walking).
Day 5 Continue on a steep ridges basing on the Barranco wall, passing through the Karanga Valley and connect with the Mweka trail. Proceed to the Barafu Hut (4600m) for dinner and overnight. (About 8 hours walking).
Day 6 Early in the morning, ascend to Stella Point (5745m), on the way to the summit UHURU PEAK (5895m) (This part of  the climb takes about 6 hours, to reach the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the highest point in Africa). From the summit, continue to straight down to Mweka Hut campsite (5100m), (This part of descend takes about 6hours) Dinner and overnight at Mweka Hut Campsite. (About 11 hours walking; this is the hardest day).
Day 7 After breakfast, descend down to Mweka Gate where will be met and transferred to Hotel for dinner and overnight H/B
Day 8 After breakfast, drive back to Arusha.  


Rongai Route:

Day 1 Drive to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate at Rongai
Day 2 The morning walk is steady ascent up the " Second Cave (3450m) with superb views of Kibo and Eastern ice fields on the crater rim. Passing the second cave we reach the 3rd cave at 3800m for overnight camp taking 3-4 hours.  Overnight Kikelelewa camp 2nd Cave.
Day 3 Acclimatization day, dinner and overnight at Mawenzi Turn Camp Cave 3.
Day 4 Continue ascending on the east side of Kibo crossing the lunar desert of the "Saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo taking 4-5 hours to reach Kibo hut at 15000ft/4700m..  The remainder of the day is spent resting in preparation for the final ascent before a very early night!  Overnight camp KIbo.
Day 5 A long day and an early start for the summit on steep and heavy screen up to Gilmans's Point at 18640ft/5681m on the crater rim to arrive in time for sunrise.  Those who are still feeling strong can make the three hour round trip to Uhuru Peak the highest point in Africa at 19340ft/5896m, passing close to the spectacular glaciers and ice cliffs that still occupy most of the summit area.  The descents to Kibo is surprisingly fast and, after some refreshment, continue the descent to reach the final campsite at Horombo taking 11 hrs. Overnight Camp Horombo.
Day 6 A steady descent down through moorland to Mandara Hut, the first stopping place at the marangu route. Continue descending through lovely lush forest on a good path to the park gate at Marangu (1830m) taking 5-7 hours to be met and transferred to Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.


Lemosho Route:

Day 1 Arrive Moshi
Upon arrival you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Meet you climbing guide for briefing and final gear check. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 After breakfast and briefing, drive to Londorossi Park Gate (2250m / 7382 ft, 2.5 hours). From here a forest track requiring a 4WD vehicle leads to Lemosho Glades (2100m / 6890 ft, 11km, 45 minutes) and a possible campsite (park fees are not paid to camp here). Walk along forest trails to Mti Mkubwa (big tree) campsite
Day 3 After breakfast, we continue as the trail gradually steepens and enters the giant heather moorland zone. Several streams are crossed then it gains the Shira Ridge at about 3600m / 11,811 ft and drops gently down to Shira 1 camp located by a stream on the Shira Plateau.
Day 4 After breakfast, a gentle walk across the plateau leads to Shira 2 camp on moorland meadows by a stream. A variety of walks are available on the Plateau making this an excellent acclimatization day.
Day 5 From the Shira Plateau, we continue to the east, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower, called the "Shark's Tooth." Shortly after the tower, we come to the second junction which brings us up to the Arrow Glacier at an altitude of 4876 meters / 15,997 ft. We now continue down to the Barranco Hut at an altitude of 3860 meters / 12,664 ft. Here we rest, enjoy dinner, and overnight. Although you end the day at the same elevation as when you started, this day is very important for acclimatization and will help your body prepare for summit day.
Day 6 After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley (4200m / 13,780 ft) campsite.
Day 7 After breakfast, we leave the Karanga Valley and pass the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue to the Barafu Hut, which is located ant an altitude of 4600 meters (15,092 ft). You have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position.
Day 8 Early morning, we continue our way to the summit of Uhuru Peak at 5985 meters (19,636 ft). This part of the climb takes about 6 hours. It can be very cold at night at these elevations, but it will be quite warm by the end of the hiking day. You will want clothing for both extremes with you. At Uhuru Peak, we have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa. Faster hikers will see the sunrise from the summit. From the summit, we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut camp site at 3100 meters (10,171 ft). This part of the descent takes about 5 hours. You will want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. Later in the evening, we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep. Beer and soda may be available for purchase at the Mweka Hut -- the only place on this route.
Day 9 After breakfast, we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy). A vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to hotel in Moshi.. It is time for celebration!
Day 10 Depart Moshi
Depart Moshi for onward travel or catch flight back home.

 

 

Shira Route:

Day 1 Arrive Moshi
Upon arrival you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Meet you climbing guide for briefing and final gear check. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 Moshi - Shira camp
Elevation (m): 2300m to 3840m Elevation (ft): 7550ft to 12,600ft Distance: 18km Hiking Time: 5-7 hours Habitat: Montane Forest The drive from Moshi to the trailhead takes about 3 hours. We walk through the rain forest on a winding trail up a ridge. Lower down, the trail can be muddy and slippery. Gaiters and trekking poles are a good idea here. We continue a short distance until we reach the Shira Camp.
Day 3

Shira camp to Lava Tower to Baranco Camp

Elevation (m): 3840m to 4630m to 3860m Elevation (ft): 12,600ft to 12,700ft Distance: 15 km Walking Time: 5-7 hours Habitat: Semi-desert From the Shira Plateau, we continue to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower, called the "Shark's Tooth." Shortly after the tower, we come to the second junction which brings us up to the Arrow Glacier at an altitude of 4876 meters (15,997 ft). We now continue down to the Barranco Hut at an altitude of 3860 meters (12,664 ft). Here we rest, enjoy dinner, and overnight. Day 4

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Elevation (m): 3860m to 4200m Elevation (ft): 12,700ft to 13,800ft Distance: 7 km Hiking Time: 4 hours Habitat: Alpine Desert After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley campsite.

Day 5

Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp

Elevation (m): 3860m to 4600m Elevation (ft): 12,700ft to 15,100ft Distance: 13km Hiking Time: 8 hours Habitat: Alpine Desert After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge up the Barranco Wall, through the Karanga Valley (lunch at 4200m / 14,770 ft), and the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue up to the Barafu Hut. You have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position.

Day 6

Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Hut

Elevation (m): 4600m to 5895m (and down to 3100m) Elevation (ft): 15,100ft to 19,300ft (and down to 10,200ft) Distance: 7km ascent / 23km descent Hiking Time:6- 8 hours ascent / 7-8 hours descent Habitat: Stone scree and ice-capped summit Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), we continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. At Stella Point (5685m / 18,652 ft), you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting).From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all they way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. At Uhuru Peak, you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa. Faster hikers will see the sunrise from the summit. It can be very cold at night at these elevations, but it will be quite warm by the end of the hiking day. You will want clothing for both extremes with you. From the summit, we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut camp site, stopping at Barafu for lunch. You will want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. Mweka Camp is situated in the upper forest and mist or rain can be expected in the late afternoon. Later in the evening, we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.

Day 7

Mweka Camp to Moshi

Elevation (m): 3100m to 1830m Elevation (ft): 10,200ft to 6000ft Distance: 15 km Hiking Time: 3-4 hours Habitat: Forest After breakfast, we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy). From the gate, continue another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to hotel in Moshi.. It is time for celebration!

Day 8 Depart Moshi
Depart Moshi for onward travel or catch flight back home.
